The Brooks Area Recreation Board of Directors would like to update you on new information and activities related to our sports programs.

Annual Membership Meeting – Thursday, May 13^th 7:00 pm. , Brooks City Hall Meeting Room

The Brooks area Recreation Board of Directors would like to invite you to our first annual membership meeting. This meeting will be held at the Brooks City Hall meeting room at 7pm on May 13^th. During this meeting we will hold the election for the new Board of Directors, have a Presidents and Treasurers Report along with any business that will need to be conducted for the organization. As a parent with a youth enrolled in a Brooks Area Recreation Sport we would encourage you to be involved and attend this important meeting.

New Identity for Brooks Area Recreation

In 2009, The Town of Brooks decided not to have an official recreation department and asked us to form an outside organization. Therefore, the Board of Directors has established a nonprofit corporation (Brooks Area Recreation, Inc.) with the State of Georgia and is in the process of establishing this corporation as a 501C3 with the IRS. This does not affect the day to day operation of our sports programs and we feel that this will be a benefit to our sports especially when we become a tax exempt organization.

Bylaws for the Corporation

In forming the new corporation with the state, we were required to establish new bylaws. Your Board has worked hard to establish new bylaws and policies that the organization will follow. Board of Directors Elections

The election of a new Board of Directors will be held at our annual membership meeting on May 6^th, 7:00 pm at the Brooks City Hall meeting room. We are currently taking nominations for Board of Directors positions. More information is available on the election and job descriptions for each of the Director positions in the new bylaws . The positions are:

Concessions Director Facilities Director

Registrar Director Fundraising and Sponsorships Director

Uniform and Equipment Director

Finally, the Brooks Area Recreation Board of Directors would like to thank all of the parents and volunteers that support our programs and give our youth a fun, learning and safe sporting experience. The Board greatly appreciates your valuable time and efforts in assisting us to accomplish this each and every year
